Lack of timely decision on Id holiday leads to confusion

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, JAN 19: Confusion among government employees marked the Id celebrations in the City, as the Chandigarh Administration and the Punjab Government did not declare a holiday today on account of Id-ul-Fitr. All Central Government and Haryana offices were, however, closed on account of Id.

As curious employees, school children and their wards kept frantically checking about the holiday, the Chandigarh Administration forced by the situation, today morning, specially declared a restricted holiday for today in all its government offices / institutions /boards / corporations and undertakings.

Meanwhile, all offices of the Administration and those of Punjab would remain closed tomorrow due to a public holiday on account of the festival. Tomorrow's holiday would be under the Negotiable Instruments Act, whereby all banks would also remain closed.
