IOC make clean sweep

PUNE, Jan 19: Hosts Indian Oil Corporation made a clean sweep of all the six titles, the claiming the team championship, the singles and doubles titles in both men's and women's categories in the VIth PSCB Inter Unit Carrom tournament which concluded at the Padale Palace Hall today.

Top seed M Nataraj retained the men's title defeating teammate Simon Issac 25-11, 22-25, 25-0 in the finals and later made it a grand double, pairing up with K Ramesh Babu to overwhelm Balu Kanukale and V Venkataswamy of BPCL 25-13, 25-1 to retain the doubles title as well.

Varsha Narayanan of IOC retained the women's singles title for a record sixth year in succession. She made short work of Surekha Nagwekar of ONGC 25-4, 25-0. Varsha later figured in the doubles final alongwith Madhuri Taishetye to win the title against Surekha NAgwekar and Pronita Das 25-13, 25-18.

Infosys reign supreme
Infosys Technologies Ltd. defeated Querisoft by a huge margin of 10 wickets in the Inter-Information Technology cricket championship here today.

Querisoft batsmen caved in for 58 runs while facing the Infosys duo of Vineet Patwardhan (3/6) and Sandeep Lele (3/14). Infosys won without loosing any wickets. Sashi excelled with an unbeaten 33.

Frontier Software went down to ICIL by three-wickets. Batting first, Frontier Software rattled up 157 runs, aided by a 51 from skipper Manav. Mahesh (29) and Nadeem (28) lent him excellent support. Suresh (3/16) restricted the Frontier onslaught. ICIL scraped through by three wickets thanks to Altaf Shaikh (32), Vinay (24) and Sai (20).
