Unnatural deaths
Two unnatural deaths were reported from different parts of the city on Wednesday. The SSG police said that one Kulwant Singh, (25), a driver was run over by an unidentified vehicle near Bhilapur, near Dabhoi, on Wednesday afternoon when he was replacing his vehicle's (HR-38-C-213) deflated tyre. The accident disrupted traffic for about an hour. In the second case, one Nanda Jadhav, 24, a resident of Kamatibaug slum area, who was undergoing treatment for severe burns since Tuesday, succumbed on Wednesday. The police said she had attempted to immolate herself, adding the case was being investigated.

Electrocuted
A middle-aged man Vinod Bhavsar was rushed to the SSG Hospital with severe burns after he got electrocuted in Karelibaug here on Wednesday. According to the police, Bhavsar, a resident of Akshat Society, who worked as a security guard at the GEB sub-station, came in contact with a live wire while trying to catch a kite. He sustained sever burn injuries. His condition is reported to be critical.

Vehicles stolen
A sunny moped (GJ-7-J-2808) and a scooter (GJK-4199) were reported to have been stolen from Karelibaug and Navapura areas respectively, the police said on Wednesday.

Armed loot
Surat: Armed with sharp-edged weapons, two miscreants looted a man of Rs 2000 at Udhna on Tuesday night and escaped, a case registered in the police station said. The complainant, one Prabhakar Patil, a resident of Bharuch, told the Udhna police that he had hired an autorickshaw in which one of the accused was already seated and was later joined by the other. According to Patil, when the rickshaw reached plot no 70 at Udhna, the two accused threatened him with knives.
