Harminder and Sarita to lead

CHANDIGARH, Jan 20: Harminder Singh and Sartia will the Chandigarh boys and girls team respectively, in the Youth National basketball championship to be held at Surat from January 23.

Team
Boys: Harminder Singh (captain), Amit Kumar, Taney Jain, Haramandeep Singh, Sunil Yadav, Aman Mehta, Yashpreet Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Rishi, Sangram Singh, Harvir Singh Sidhu and Amandeep.

Girls: Sartia, Poonam Gupta, Munjala, Babita, Kavita, Rene, Paramjit, Manpreet, Preeti, Pushpa Devi, Indu, Sherya Singh.

Gold for Parveen
The Chandigarh boxing team excelled by winnng six medals including one gold in the Sub-Junior National Boxing championship which recently concluded at Durgapur (West Bengal). Out of 12-member team, six pugilist got in the medal standing.

Parveen struck gold for the team in B-12 category while Pardeep (A-11) and Sandeep (E-5) lost on points to win silver in their respective bouts.

Ashwani (D-4), Bhuwan (C-6) and Sohan (C-7) won bronze medals in their respective categories.

Badminton squad
International Vijaydeep Singh will lead Punjab in the Senior National Badminton Championship to be held in New Delhi from Feburary 4 to 10, according to Rajinder Kalsi, general secretary of the Punjab Badminton Association.

Team
Men: Vijaydeep Singh (captain), Chanderdeep Randhawa, Gurmukh Singh, Mohd Saleem, Jaideep Kohli, Gagandeep Ratti, Rohan Kapoor, Navdeep Singh, Munish Arora.
Women: Nancy Tandon, Nazma Parveen, Yogita Kaushal, Meeta Bhandari, Vidhu Vatrana, Sapna and Sheel Bhagat.
