Allies pressure Centre for action against Shiv Sena
Pressure mounted on the Vajpayee Government, from including its allies, to deal with Shiv Sena firmly in the wake of its opposition to Pakistan's cricket tour of India even as Shiv Sainiks in Tamil Nadu threatened to turn themselves into "suicide squads" in their attempt to disrupt the Indo-Pak match in Chennai.
Advani's missives take effect, State Govt gets down to work
Held to hook by the Bharatiya Janata Party Government at the Centre, the Maharashtra Government began to take concrete action against the arbitrary violence and terror spread by the Shiv Sena over the forthcoming Indo-Pak cricket series.
Not pleased with the President, Govt gives a twist to his recommendation
Rashtrapati Bhavan is unhappy with the twist that has been given to President K R Narayanan's recommendation for more SC/STs and women as judges. In fact, just a week after that recommendation, at a national seminar on December 5, Narayanan had set any speculation to rest.
