`House will not tolerate Gokhale's statement'

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, Jan 22: Mayor Nandu Satam today took strong objection to commissioner Girish Gokhale's statement to `turn the tables on former Mayor Milind Vaidya' with respect to the row over illegal constructions in Mahim.

Last week, Vaidya had threatened to stage a dharna outside the BMC if the commissioner failed to demolish all illegal constructions in his ward in a month. Gokhale had then written to Vaidya accusing him of supporting some of the illegal constructions.

At the general body meeting today, Satam said he doubted whether Gokhale had made the statement at all. ``If Gokhale has made this statement, the House will not tolerate it,'' announced Satam.
