CHANDIGARH, JAN 22: Two cyclists were killed and three persons injured in separate road accidents in the city during the past 24 hours.According to police sources, cyclist Faqir Chand, a resident of Sector 38, was hit by a Maruti car near the Sectors 37-38-40-41 roundabout. Faqir Chand was rushed to PGI where he succumbed to his injuries. The car driver fled the spot. The police have registered a case of causing death by rash and negligent driving.In an accident near Mullanpur Garib Das village near PGI, a cyclist, Lakhbir Singh, was killed on the spot after being hit by a tractor-trolley. The deceased was a resident of Paindpur village in Roopnagar district and sold milk here for a living.
In another accident this evening, a scooterist was admitted to PGI in an unconscious condition after a vehicle banged into his scooter in Sector 21.
Meanwhile, in two separate accidents, Sector 23 resident Sushil and Ram Lal, a resident of Sector 16 in Panchkula, were injured after their scooters reportedly skid in Sector 22 and Sector 8 of Chandigarh, respectively.
