Chhotu Ram is remembered for the measures he took to improve the conditions of the needy farmers. His birthday, which falls on Basant Panchami has a story to go with it. When asked by the farmers about his birthday for the celebrations, he asked them to take the day most dear to them which was the Basant Panchami as his birthday.
