NEW DELHI, January 22: Rajput Club drubbed Delhi Development Authority 7-1 after leading 5-0 at half-time in the Delhi State Hockey Championship at Shivaji Stadium here today. In the other match of the day, Delhi Audit humbled Delhi Sports Club 2-0.Rajput Club went on attack from the beginning and took the lead in the second minute itself through Dharmender. The early goal jolted DDA and they rushed for defense. But Rajput did not allow to settle them amd Sanjeev Sharma consolidated the lead with two goal in a row, scoring in the eighth and 15th minutes. Himanshu scored the fourth goal in the 20th minute while right out Ashish scored the fifth and sixth goals in the 29th and 38th minutes.
DDA offered some resistance after the break and after conceding a goal in the 38th minute, went all out for attack. Their efforts finally paid dividends as in the 48th minute, on a move from left Nandlal scored to reduce the margin for DDA.
But Rajput were in no mood to give up so easily and Anand Mishra completed the tally by scoring the seventh goal in the 58th minute. Though DDA tried to reduce the margin further, but Rajput Club defense was tough to breach.
In the second match, Delhi Audit and Delhi Sports Club fought hard to score but their efforts did not materialise, resulting to a barren first half. After the break, Amrit Sharma scored a brace in the 40th and 50 minutes to seal Delhi Sports Club's fate.
