Panda anchors NZ

PUNE, Jan 22: A K Panda's fine all round performance, 86 runs and five wickets, steered North Zone to a fine victory over Mumbai by 30 runs to annex the cricket title on the concluding day of the sports and cultural meet `Nabotsav 98' hosted by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development's Pune regional office.

UB Engineering Ltd won their league encounter against Philips India Ltd by four wickets in the ongoing MCA Poona Cricket League.

Philips India put up 222 runs losing 6 wickets mainly by Vinit Wagle's sturdy knock of 87. For UB Mohan Jadhav took four wickets. Later U B Engg. reached the target aided by a solid innings of 101 by Amit Thakur and Avinash Deshpande chipping in with 45 runs.
