EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NASHIK, JAN 25: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to all medical courses in the state for the academic year 1999-2000 will be conducted by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, on May 23.

Addressing a press conference, University Vice-Chancellor D G Dongaonkar said application forms and the prospectus of the common entrance examinations would be available from March 10 to 31.

The last date for submission of forms is April 7. Forms will be available at all affiliated medical colleges in the state for a fee of Rs 300, the vice-chancellor said. The examination fee is Rs 500.

Class XII (Science) students with at least 50 per cent marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and passing marks in English can qualify for the examination, which will be conducted ahead of the HSC examination results.

The results will be declared one week after the HSC results.

The admission process will be completed in six weeks and the colleges will open on August 1, the V-C added. The entranceexamination will be conducted in all districts of the state.

Successful candidates will be called for interviews in Nashik.

The Medical Education department and the Revenue department of the state government will help the university conduct the examinations district-wise. Dongaonkar said the university has decided to do away with the ATKT (Allowed To Keep Term) provision with a view to standardising medical courses.

Students will be marked negative for not attempting a question or giving a wrong answer in the entrance examination.

According to the merit list and the number of seats available, students will be able to select their branch of medicine.
