Pak women's cricket tour cancelled

LUCKNOW: Citing security reasons, Pakistan today called off their India tour for silver jubilee tournament of Uttar Pradesh Women's Cricket Association two days before the start. But the organisers said the tournament would go an as per schedule with Sri Lanka, the third team for the event, agreeing to play the hosts in a two-team series.

Taslima flees again

DHAKA: Author Taslima Nasrin fled Bangladesh for the second time in five years to escape threats from Islamic extremists, her family said today.

Nasrin (36), left for London after Islamic extremists renewed an offer of 200,000 takas ($ 5,000) for anyone who kills her after she returned last year to take care of her ailing mother.
