Tableaux at mela attracts crowds

VADODARA, Jan 25: A large number of school children visited the three-day balmela organised by the Municipal School Board here at Sayajibaug on Monday.

According to a Board release, the mela comprised a number of informative and educative stalls besides attractive tableaux on traffic, first aid, fire brigade, religious institutions, the fishery department, toy-makers and social fora.

Among other attractive tableaux, the one put up by teachers and students of Sayajigunj School No 13 on `Satellite Railgun' is attracting crowds. Another attraction is the `Glimpses of Ills of Our Society' displayed by team members of Acharya Shreemati Gunvantiben Parmar. According to the release, more than a lakh children had already visited the fair, besides the presence of senior Board officials.

Meanwhile, Sayajigunj schools No 25, 8 and 16 were awarded the first, second and the third prizes respectively for their tableaux, while Vadi schools No 1 and 23 and Babajipura Girls School No 13 were given the consolation prizes.

Vadi School No 23 bagged the first prize in the cooking competition, while Raopura School No 3 and Vadi School No 14 won the second and third prize respectively. Shahar Vibhag School No 15 and 4, Raopura School No 10 and Fatehpura School No 11 were given consolation prizes.

In the educative stalls contest, Fatehpura School, 1, Navi Wadi School, 23 won the first and second prizes, while Sayajigunj School No 8 and Raopura School No 7 bagged the third prize jointly. Sayajigunj School No 13, Navi Wadi School No 40 and Navi Wadi School No 1 got the consolation prizes. In Balwadi section, Vibhag office No 1, 2, 3 got the first, second and third prize, respectively, according to the release.
