VADODARA, Jan 25: The civic coordination committee members and BJP leaders held a meeting on Monday to give finishing touches to budget which is scheduled to be presented before the Standing Committee in the next couple of days.Chaired by Krishnakant Shah, the meeting was also attended by Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs Yogesh Patel and Bhupendra Lakhawala and the party's city unit secretary Chunibhai Baria, besides Mayor Bharatiben Vyas.
The dozen-odd members discussed in detail various issues pertaining to the budget and expressed party's commitment in executing all the planned developments of the city earmarked in the budget. They also appreciated the fact that there was resentment in some quarters within the party against the newly introduced fire, water, vehicle and land acquisition taxes.
However, the committee members held that since party corporators were determined to lite all the streetlights and repair all city roads, there would not be any obstacles from any quarter in getting the budget passed, specially from the party corporators number of which was 78 at the Vadodara Municipal Corporation this time.
Meanwhile, the budget remained to be issue of the day at Vadodara Municipal Corporation with about a dozen corporators from Congress, four from Rashtriya Janata Party and five independent corporators discussing different facets of the budget.
