Dogra Regiment, Delhi Police win

NEW DELHI, January 27: Delhi Police beat State Bank of India 3-2 while Dogra Regiment beat Academy Club 5-2 in the Delhi Hockey Championship at Shivaji Stadium. In another match, New Star routed Swami Anand Muni XI 7-0.

SBI took the lead in the 20th minute thorugh Deepak Bhalla. In the 29th minute, Daljeet Singh of Delhi Police equalised while Mandeep Singh scored the second goal in the 41st minute. SBI's Sukhdev Singh scored in the 50th minute to pull abreast. But eight minutes later, Ranbir Singh of Delhi Police scored the winner through a penalty corner.

For Academy Club Raju opened the account in the fifth minute. But full back Naresh equalised for Dogra Regiment after sucessfully converting a penalty corner in the 12th minute. Naresh Junior gave Dogra Regiment the lead in the 20th minute. Down 1-2 at half-time, Academy Club returned afresh with new strategy which paid as Ajay equalised in the 37th minute. Three minutes later, Naresh Senior scored through penalty corner in 40th minute to put Dogra Regiment ahead. Narinder Junior (47th) and Naresh Junior (56th) scored to complete the tally.

In the last match of the day, New Star routed Swami Anand Muni 7-0 after leading 3-0 at half-time. Ashwani opened the account for the winners in the 10th minute. Rohit (16th), Arun (22nd), Parvinder Singh (38th & 40th), Abishek Vohra (44th) and Dalbir (48th) were the other scorers for New Star.
