NEW DELHI: The Union cabinet on Thursday decided to increase the PDS prices of wheat, rice and sugar as well as the farmgate price of urea. The move is expected to trim the runaway subsidy bill by Rs 5,000 crore. While the selling price of urea has been hiked by 11.1 per cent, the central issue prices of wheat has been raised by 40 per cent and that of rice by 30 %.

Nadeem trial

MUMBAI: After sixteen months of procedural delay, the Bow Street magistrate in London has finally fixed day to day trial from February 22 in the extradition case filed by the Indian government against music director Nadeem Akhtar Saifee, prime accused in the Gulshan Kumar murder case.The magistrate has marked complete three weeks for this trial, Nadeem's lawyer said.
