Two-day science fair from Saturday

VADODARA, Jan 28: A chemical garden, a chemical clock, and Mathematics made easy. All this and much more will be part of the two-day open house-cum-Science Fair which will begin at the Faculty of Science, M S University from Saturday as part of the Known Your University Programme.

The department laboratories of all faculties will be kept open for children and common people during the fair. Various experiments and the latest developments in science will be put on display, besides students answering visitors' queries. Various research work carried out by each department would also be displayed explaining the research capabilities and facilities available in each department.

While students of the Department of Bio-Chemistry will display charts and models stating the scientific basis on the commonly used products like foods, drugs, shampoos and detergents, they will also show the use of rats, mice and guinea pigs for understanding and learning behaviour for hormonal disorders.

Students of the Department of Botany will exhibit plants in the changing scenario and their use in health care, cosmetics, fertilizers and bio-pesticides.

While the Department of Chemistry, as everyone knows, studies elements and the compounds they form, students say it'll be a surprise for those who visit the department. Students of this department intend to display experiments showing chemical light, colourful garden, chemical fountain, cold fire and chemical clock, among others.

Students of the Department of Geography will display models and charts and hold video shows of the environment. The fair will be inaugurated by university Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane.
