Clinton wants chill to thaw: Talbott
In the clearest sign yet that Washington has overcome its anger and recrimination at India's May 1998 nuclear tests and is ready to begin a new chapter in its ties with New Delhi, US Deputy Secretary Strobe Talbott said on Wednesday that he sees a resolution to the sanctions issue in consonance with a more harmonious relationship the two sides hope to achieve in the near term.
"We are going to turn over a new leaf, we are not going to give up"
The story goes that as a young man, Strobe Talbott was courting a California girl named Brooke Shearer -- now his wife -- who came to New Delhi in 1968 for a programme called Experiment in International Living. Talbott wrote her so regularly at the Golf Links home she stayed in that he still remembers the address.
