Wireless set stolen from Punjab Police Gypsy

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Jan 29: A wireless set, along with mike and speaker, has reportedly been stolen from a Punjab Police Gypsy.

According to police sources, the police have registered a case on the complaint filed by Gypsy driver Dyal Singh. The Punjab Armed Police constable is presently on deputation with State Transport Commissioner. The Gypsy (PB-12B-7804) is attached with Parneet Kaur, who is the wife of Adesh Pratap Singh, an MLA.

The equipment was reportedly stolen on the night between January 26 and 27. Police sources added that Dyal Singh parked the Gyspy outside his residence in Sector 15 here as he wanted to have dinner. When he returned he found the equipment missing.

Meanwhile, the Punjab police have decided to initiate action against Dyal Singh for his "negligence as he should not have parked the vehicle at an unsafe place like this." A senior Punjab police official, when contacted, said the case is being sent to the STC for taking disciplinary action against him.

He added that it was not yet clear whether it is the handiwork of terrorists or thieves.

The city police officials last night interrogated the driver and other policemen working with him. The residents of the area were also questioned, they added.
