Rana fires Asiad best for gold

Bangalore, Jan 31: Jaspal Rana of CISF fired a score equal to the gold medal winning performance at the Bangkok Asian Games in the 25 metres Standard Pistol men's individual open event. He shot a 574 with one perfect 50 in the fourth series (150 seconds) to win gold at the 42nd National shooting championships today.Jaspal had scores of 196 (150 seconds), 190 (20 sec) and 188 (10 sec) despite an allowable malfunction where the third and fourth shots got lodged in the pistol. Samresh Jung (CISF) and Ashok Pandit (Maharashtra) tied for the second place with an identical score of 558 with Ashok also scoring a perfect 50 in the fourth series of the 150 seconds.
