Win beckons Mahindras

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, Jan 31: The two contestants for Monday's Coca Cola National Football League match at the Cooperage have different goals. While Salgaocar need to get back their focus after a 0-1 loss to Indian Bank at home, Mahindras badly require to win after collecting just three points from five games.

In their earlier meeting, Salgaocar had won 3-0 at Margao. Mahindras would be hoping to reverse the result on their home turf and Salgaocar coach, Shabbir Ali is a bit wary. ``It was one of our days,'' he said, referring to their home win. ``But tomorrow is a different game altogether,'' he said.Salgaocar have come without two of their regulars, striker Alvito D'Cunha and defender Francis Coelho. Shabbir is not worried over their absence.

``They are carrying injuries. We cannot have them in every match.'' But he conceded the clash was pivotal as they meet East Bengal in their second away leg.

With eight points from five matches (two victories, two draws and a defeat), Salgaocar hope to relaunch their bid toqualify for the second phase of the league.

For Mahindras manager Harish Rao, his team's situation adds to his immediate worries injuries. With both Manoj Jaggi and Mark Mascarenhas out of action, Mahindras will be fielding Salim Ansari in the goal. Shamsi Raza is also out of tomorrow's clash.
