NEW DELHI, JAN 31: The former Union Minister Madan Lal Khurana's resignation from the Cabinet and BJP national executive, is culmination of the discontent simmering ever since he was removed from Delhi's Chief Ministership four years ago.Not only did the BJP leadership refused to reinstate him after Khurana was absolved of receiving money from Jain brothers through hawala, but also continued to sideline him in the local Delhi politics.
It should therefore come as no surprise if he turns out to be another Shankarsinh Vaghela who revolted against the RSS's interference within the Gujrat unit of the BJP. Vaghela, not allowed to become Chief Minister despite enjoying mass support, fulfilled his ambition later with help of the Congress.
Khurana's disastrous performance as Parliamentary Affairs Minister which led to speculations of him being divested of the portfolio during the next Cabinet reshuffle, appears to have hastened his resignation.
