MUMBAI, Jan 31: Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd (DHFL), the second largest housing finance firm in the private sector, has earned a net profit of Rs 9 crore during the nine-month period ended December 1998. The net profit for the full year ended March 1998 amounted to Rs 10.38 crore.The company's board which met here today announced a net profit of Rs 2.04 crore for the third quarter ended December 1998.The total income during the nine-month period amounted to Rs 62.75 crore and for the third quarter at Rs 21.01 crore. Before providing for depreciation and taxation, the company earned an operating profit of Rs 11.33 crore and Rs 3.65 crore during the nine-month period and three-month period respectively.
According to CMD Rajesh Kumar Wadhawan, inwards stood at Rs 82.14 crore and disbursements at Rs 68.40 crore in the period. Cumulative disbursements stood at Rs 680.51 crore as on December 1998. The non-performing assets of DHFL as on December 1998 is Rs 242 lakh which is 0.52 per cent of the totaloutstanding housing loan, considered to be among the lowest in the industry.Kapil Wadhawan, executive director, said that the company had given emphasis to low and middle income groups and achieved its stipulated target of the special Rural Housing Scheme.
