JCT makes losses

MUMBAI: JCT Ltd has recorded a net loss of Rs 18.35 crore for the quarter ended December 1998. The company's cash loss during this period has been Rs 2.87 crore. It however, recorded Rs 19.26 crore as profit before interest and depreciation in the same period. JCT's income from operations in the third quarter in the current fiscal has been Rs 235.25 crore. Total expenditure of the company during in this period has been Rs 216.37 crore and interest charges have been Rs 22.13 crore. JCT's net loss for the first nine months of the current financial year has been Rs 57.10 crore. During the same period the company's income from operations has been Rs 785.59 crore. The company's cash loss has been Rs 11.89 crore in the the first nine months of this financial year. JCT however, recorded Rs 66.19 crore as profit before interest and depreciation in the same period.

BHEL profits up

MUMBAI: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has recorded a 20 per cent increase in net profit atRs 149.34 crore during quarter ended December 31, 1998 compared to Rs 126.27 crore in the corresponding period last year. The turnover of the company also registered a marginal increase of Rs 22.64 crores to Rs 1537.94 crore during the period as against Rs 1515.30 crore in the previous year. The company's turnover during the nine month period ended December 31, also recorded an increase of about Rs 110 crore to Rs 3981.91 crore as against Rs 3,871.73 crore in the same period of last year. The net profit during the nine month period also increased to Rs 281.82 as against Rs 243.67 crore last year.

TVS Suzuki

MUMBAI: TVS Suzuki Ltd has posted a 28 per cent jump in sales and a 17 per cent increase in its profits for the third quarter ended December 31, 1998. The company could not translate the increase in its sales into profit totally due to its Mysore plant which had commenced operations this year. The sales for the three-month period ended December 31, 1998 was Rs 339.03 crore (Rs 263.43crore).

Crisil net up

MUMBAI: Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd (Crisil) has registered a 19 per cent growth in net profit during the nine-month period ended December 31, 1998. The credit rating agency's net profit has climbed to Rs 10.01 crore from Rs 8.43 crore during the corresponding period in the previous year. During the third quarter of 1998-99 alone Crisil's net shot up by 39 per cent to Rs 3.77 crore against Rs 2.72 crore in the year-ago period. The rating agency's total income during the first nine months of the current fiscal has risen by 15 per cent to Rs 29.49 crore (Rs 25.66 crore). While income from operations accounted for Rs 26.21 crore (23.13 crore), other income stood at Rs 3.28 crore (Rs 2.53 crore).

Dr Reddy's Lab

MUMBAI: Dr reddy's Laboratories has registered a 29 per cent jump in net profit for the third quarter of the current fiscal at Rs 13.37 crore (before making extraordinary provisions for export receivables) as against Rs 10.40 crore in thecorresponding period of the previous year. Sales for the period jumped to Rs 89.65 crore from Rs 75.82 crore in the previous year. Net profit for the first nine months increased by 30 per cent to Rs 51.66 crore from Rs 37.25 crore. An amount of Rs 2.50 crore has been set aside during the quarter as provision towards export receivables taking the total provision to Rs 12.50 crore.
