From today, a canvas of art and culture at Kala Ghoda

Express News Service
MUMBAI, January 31: Art, heritage, photography and literature will gather together for 14 days at the Kala Ghoda art festival from today. Initiated by the Kala Ghoda Association, the festival will mark the formation of Mumbai's first art district and will include events such as talks, film screenings, workshops, and food festivals.

The proposed art district will stretch from the Regal Chowk at the southern end of Mahatma Gandhi Marg to the University of Mumbai at the northern end, flanked by Oval Maidan to the west and Lion Gate to the east. Kala Ghoda is home to art galleries, restaurants, educational and cultural institutions, including Jehangir Art Gallery, Artists' Centre, Indo-Japanese Association Gallery, the open pavement Art Plaza, University of Mumbai and Max Mueller Bhavan. ``The art festival is not an end in itself. Yes, it is a pilot project, but we expect similar events to follow for the on-going relationship with the project,'' Amita Desai of MMB told Express Newsline.
