While relating his experiences and views and on literature and society, the 89-year-old poet said: ``Gandhiji was a very good writer and humourist,'' a fact which has been forgotten in the 50 years since Independence. He said: ``Gandhiji forcefully and effectively described the real face of the colonisers (Englishman) and the status of labourers in South Africa.
