State ENT elected assn president

SURAT, JAN 31: Dr Vinod H Shah, an eminent Surat based ENT surgeon, became the 51st National president of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India at their recently concluded Annual Conference in Guwahati. He is the first doctor from Gujarat to hold the position.

In his presidential address, Dr Shah stressed the importance of continuing education programme to meet the challenge of the 21st century, the need for uniform post graduate teaching programmes for all universities and facilities to do temporal bone and cadaveric dissection of head and neck during training.

The 51st Annual Conference was inaugurated by the governor of Assam retired General S K Sinha. The conference was attended by more than 420 doctors from India and abroad. More than 120 scientific papers were presented.
