A resident, who noticed smoke bellowing from the shop, tipped off the Central Fire Brigade around 10.15 pm. The Central Fire Brigade and the fire fighting unit of Pune Cantonment Board rushed three fire tenders to put off the fire.

The blaze was brought under control within 15 minutes. Details about the cause of fire and extent of damage caused could not be ascertained till late in the night.
