Dogra Regiment, FCI in final

NEW DELHI, January 31: Dogra Regiment and Food Corporation of India (North Zone) will mee in the final of the Delhi hockey championships at Shivaji Stadium on Tuesday. In the semi-finals, played today, Dogra Regiment defeated Food Corporation of India (Headquarters) 7-6 via tie-breaker and FCI (North Zone) downwd Delhi Police 4-1.

Dogra Regiment and FCI (Headquarters) were locked 2-2 at the end of regulation period. Naresh Sr of Dogra Regiment scored the first goal in the 10th minute. Narinder Kumar scored the second goal for Dogra Regiment in 23rd minute. Prabkahar Singh reduced the margin for FCI in 30th minute and Mahesh Rawat reduced it further in 33rd minute through a penalty corner.

In the tie-breaker, Vishwa Mitter, Naresh Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Sansar, and Tarlok Singh were the scorers for Dogra Regiment. V.S. Rana, Prabhakar Singh, Mashood Alam and Amarnath were the scorers for FCI (Hq).

In the second semi-final, F.C.I. (N.Z.) led 2-0 at the interval against Delhi Police. Rajiv scored the first goal for FCI in the seventh minute. Jasbir Singh increased the lead in the 15th minute. Amar Singh scored the third goal in the 37th minute. Navbir Singh scored the fourth goal for FCI in the 44th minute. Iswar Dass scored the lone goal for Delhi Police in the 58th minute.Jai gopal dead: Jai Gopal, a former Delhi State player, expired on today after a prolonged illness. Jai Gopal had played for Punjab University in the pre-partition days and had also represented Delhi State in the national championships. He was a regular member of the Khalsa Blues and Central Secretariat teams. In his latter years, he devoted his time in coaching youngesters.
