Geeta Devi of Usra village under Ramgarh block delivered her ninth baby at the Ramgarh Cantonement hospital on January 30 to the surprise of doctors.

Medical officer of the hospital's female ward Dr Santwana Sharan said Geeta Devi had a normal delivery.

Sharan described motherhood at the age of 63 as a"strange phenomenon" and said Geeta's case throws up a challenge to medical practitioners all over the world who believe that women cannot become mothers beyond the age of 50 under normal circumstances.
