PATHANAMTHITTA, Feb 2: A Dalit student who had come to school in civil clothes was beaten up by his classmates on the orders of the school manager as a penalty for violating the strict dress code and was also forced to wear the wet uniform which was the only pair he owned.Students Federation of India (SFI) activists alleged that not only did the manager of the school at Ranni in Kerala order 13 students to beat up their classmate but he himself assaulted a student who refused to comply.
The SFI has launched an agitation against the manager of the school. According to the SFI, the manager of the school had caught some students without their school uniforms on Friday last and promptly sent them back home to don their uniforms. But Binni, a class ten student returned to school without his uniform pleading that the only pair he had was not yet ready for wear after washing.
