MSU faculty proposes to send project report to industries

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Feb 2: In a bid to secure better placement facilities for students of the Faculty of Science, M S University, the faculty officials propose to submit a detailed report of the projects undertaken by students of various departments during the past few years to industries.

The report, stating achievements of individual departments and the laboratory projects undertaken by students, is aimed at inviting projects financed by industries and also secure better placement for students.

Speaking about the proposal, Science Faculty Vice-Dean S R Pandya said, ``The work of every department will be sent to the industries and if they are interested, they can ask the department/student concerned to do it for them''.

Pandya said the industry can also fund some projects and thus extend financial help to the university. Citing the instance of the two-day science fair which was held recently, Pandya said, ``Very little financial help was forwarded to students for most of the projects displayed at the fair''.

He said the little help which students got was primarily due to their personal contacts or through the university. ``The drilling machine model displayed by the students of the Department of Geology in the fair could be presented due to students' contacts,'' Pandya said.

He said the proposal could also be considered as one of initial steps towards university-industry partnership. He added that if industries had supported some of the projects displayed at the fair, it would have turned out to be much better.
