VADODARA, Feb 2: The Health Care Management Committee of the Baroda Management Association (BMA) has organised a two-day `National Conference on Bio-medical Waste Management' at the C C Mehta Auditorium, M S University beginning Saturday.A BMA statement said the conference -- co-sponsored by the United States Asia Environmental Partnership -- would see participation of more than 400 experts from different parts of the country. While Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister A K Patel will inaugurate the conference, Health Minister Ashok Bhatt and Central Pollution Control Board Chairman Dilip Biswas will be the special guests on the occasion.
The objective of the conference was to apprise participants of the various scientific, technical and managerial components of bio-medical wastes, the management cycle, which includes identification, minimisation, segregation, handling and packing, transportation, disinfection and final disposal of waste.
The conference was also an attempt to provide a platform for policy makers, policy implementors, private nursing home owners, medical professionals, besides other agencies.
