GRMKPSS panel to meet minister

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, Feb 2: A delegation of the Gujarat Rajya Manya Khangi Prathamik Shikshak Sangh (GRMKPSS) will meet the state education minister, the education secretary and other officials of the department on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a release issued by the Sangh's city unit here on Tuesday, all pending issues as well as their demands would be taken up at the meeting. The Surat unit of the Sangh has been the most active as far as demands for wage hike, implementation of schedule F and other benefits for teachers are concerned.

At a meeting of the Surat Shahar Manya Khangi Prathamik Shikshak Sangh (SSMKPSS) held here on Tuesday, it was decided that Gitaben Patel, a teacher of the Lokbharathi Primary school, would end her day-old fast unto death. Patel had embarked on the fast demanding better wages for them. However, the impasse ended with an agreement between the school management and the district education office (DEO).

Meanwhile, in a significant development, the DEO has issued a notice to the management of R V Patel High School in Amroli asking it to grant leave to teachers who require it.

President and secretary of the SSMKPSS Dipak Patel and Kanhaiyalal Suratwala said in the statement that they, along with Padmaben Patel will meet the minister and other department officials. Patel said the call for boycotting all schools from February 5th had been temporarily withdrawn as they were meeting the authorities. ``Fresh directions will be issued after we return from Gandhinagar,'' he said, adding the directive will depend on the outcome of the meeting.
