Natesan ready to pay

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Feb 2: The chairman of Anubhav Agro and Housing Developers, C Natesan, who has been arrested on cheating charges, has shown readiness to repay the investors by selling off his assets if the cases against him are withdrawn.

The offer came while Natesan was being interrogated on Tuesday morning, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramrao Pawar.

According to DCP Pawar, Nateshan has claimed that he owns assets worth much more than his liabilities. Natesan claims that he has liabilities worth Rs 30 crore.

Preliminary investigations by Pune police have revealed that the Anubhav Agro and Housing Developers, which had 60 branches across the country, had collected an amount of about Rs 80 crore from the investors and depositors.

The amount involved in the case being investigated by Pune Police is about Rs 4.5 crore. Besides, separate cases have been filed against Natesan in Mumbai and Chennai, DCP Pawar said.

During interrogations, DCP Pawar said, Natesan claimed that he owns 400 acres of land near Shri Perambudur in Tamil Nadu. He claims to have planted 16 lakh teak trees there. Besides, he claims to have invested money in construction activities. He also claims to own a hotel at Kulu Manali. All these assets have been attached by the police, DCP Pawar added.

Natesan told the interrogators that he has already moved a petition before the Chennai High Court asking for permission to liquidate his assets so that he would be able to repay the dues.
