Shruti upset

NEW DELHI, February 2: Top seed Kedar Tembe defeated wild card Shivang Mishra 6-1, 6-4 to enter the quarter-finals of the ITF Junior Ranking tennis tournament. Qualifier Alok Bhide, No 4 seed Dipesh Rao, Nomi Qamar of Pakistan, Sunil Kumar, qualifier Kedar Shah, No 5 seed Mark Weaver of Great Britain and second seed Akshay Vishal Rao were the other players who made it to the quarterfinals.

Second seed Shruti Dhawan was the day's biggest upset when she went down fighting to Lisa Pereira 5-7, 7-6(1), 5-7. Top seed Sheetal Gautam, Geeta Manohar, No 4 seed Radhika Mandke, No 7 seed Marya Malinowska of Poland, Sonia Shelar, Olga Dzyuba of Kazakastan and Sonal Phadke were the girls quarterfinalists today.
