TIRUCHIRAPALLI: The BJP's Tiruchirappali unit secretary Dr P V Sridharan was hacked to death by an unidentified gang near his residence at Woriyur late on Tuesday night. The police said he was going to his residence on a two-wheeler after attending work when the miscreants, armed with clubs and other weapons, stopped his vehicle and hacked him to death. Checkposts all over the State have been alerted and armed police posted in all the sensitive areas of the city as a precautionary measure.

MUMBAI: Election for the vacant seat of Maharashtra Legislative Council from the Aurangabad graduates' constituency will be held on March 7, 1999.
