VADODARA, Feb 3: The city Congress Committee has decided to launch an agitation on Thursday to protest against the hike in prices of items under the Public Distribution System. In a Press release issued on Wednesday, former Standing Committee chairman and social worker Fatehsinh Rana, former Member of Parliament Satyajit Gaekwad and others stated that the party workers would hold a demonstration at the Khanderao Market Chaar Rasta at 6 pm.
Meanwhile, leaders of the city's Youth Congress wing criticised the hike in prices of urea, LPG and sugar, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of once again burdening the economically backward and the middle classes, which had only lately recovered from the rise in potato and onion prices.
Youth Congress president Narendra Rawat said that since Gujarat was the largest producer of fuel gas in the country, the hike in LPG was unfair to the State.
