Man shoots sister over property
Suraj Bhan, a 42-year-old carpenter in the Paschim Vihar area allegedly shot his sister over a property dispute on Wednesday morning. Bhan's sister Roshni, 37, died on the spot. The police have arrested Bhan.The police say Bhan's mother had divided the property between her children before she died. But Bhan was unhappy with the division and tried to convince Roshni into writing her share off him. But Roshni refused to relent and there were frequent arguments between them.
On Wednesday morning, the brother-sister duo reportedly had a serious argument. An agitated Bhan reportedly whipped out a country-made pistol and shot his sister. When the police reached the spot, Bhan reportedly confessed to his crime.
Woman robbed
Two unidentified men reportedly robbed Rs 1.25 lakh and some jewellery from a house in the Tilak Nagar area on Wednesday morning. The only occupant in the house was an 87-year-old woman.
The incident occurred when the rest of the members of the woman's family were away at work. Two men posing as telephone operators reportedly knocked on the door of the flat in the Kangra Niketan area of Tilak Nagar around 11 a.m.
When K. Ramamurthy, 87, answered the call, the robbers hit her on the head with a blunt object. Ramamurthy fell unconscious and came around only an hour later.
Police raid
The crime branch on Wednesday recovered 301 pirated video CDs, including 21 pornographic films, and 667 pirated video cassettes of various English movies after a Malcha Marg video store was raided. The raid was conducted after the police received a complaint from Sanjeev Kapoor of Indian Motion Pictures. The shop-owner, Surinder Kumar (32) has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under the Copyright Act at the Chanakyapuri Police Station.
Two arrested
The Seelampur police on Wednesday arrested two men for planning a robbery on a bus. The men have been identified as Ahsan alias Sonu and Mustkeem alias Bhura, both around 18 years. The police say that during questioning it came out that the two had been involved in an attempt to murder case. They also reportedly confessed to robbing four persons on January 29. The four were in an autorickshaw and the youths made off with three watches, four gold rings, a gold chain, a leather jacket and Rs 5,650.
Fake pan masala
The Lahori Gate police on Tuesday arrested a Kailash Hills resident and seized 50,000 pouches of fake Chutki paan masala from his shop. The man has been identified as Subhash Gupta. The police raided the shop in Katra Bariyan after Ram Kishan Gupta of K.K. Sales complained that spurious paan masala was being sold in the open market in his company's name.
Liquor seized
The Ambedkar Nagar police on Tuesday afternoon arrested two men and seized 2,000 pouches of country-made liquor from their vehicle. Manoj and Gyan Prakash Yadav have been booked under the Excise Act. The two were in their car when they were intercepted at a police picket in Chirag Delhi. They reportedly confessed that the illicit liquor had been brought from Uttar Pradesh.
Cash reward
Commissioner of Police V.N. Singh has announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 -- which will hold good for one year -- to anyone who can provide information about a robbery in Keshavpuram on December 16 last year. Naresh Kumar Garg and his brother Raj Kumar who were on a scooter were stopped by three men in a white Maruti Zen and robbed of Rs 9.4 lakh at gun point. The police later found the vehicle abandoned in Pitampura and the registration of the vehicle turned out to be fake.
