Chinai emerge triumphant

MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 3: Chinai college beat Siddharth 2-0 to win the Inter-College Football League-cum-knockout tournament organised by hosts Goan Sports Association today.

After barren first-half attacks on the goal finally yielded in the second half.

In the 33rd minute, a pass by Nigel Mathias saw Benoy Kuruvilla take a 20-yard strike curl to the left corner of the post.

The Mathias-Kuruvilla duo struck again in the 50th minute with the latter heading Chinai's second goal.

In the dying minutes, Siddharth had a chance of reducing the margin when a Santosh Koli's free kick was neatly saved by 'keeper Conrad Corriea.

Inter-School tourneys

The MSSA-Colgate Inter-School Handball Tournament for boys and girls in the age-group of u-16 and u-14 will be held at the School Sports Centre, Azad Maidan from Feb 22 to 25. Entries for the same should be submitted latest by Feb 12.

The Mini-Basketball Tournament for u-13 boys and girls will be held at the same venue from Feb 19 to 27.
