Two killed in explosion
Ahmednagar: Two persons were killed and three injured in an explosion at a weekly bazar in the tehsil town of Akole in Ahmednagar district, yesterday.

Vijay Lahamage, 24, owner of the shop selling chillies where the explosion took place, was killed on the spot, police said. Two injured have been shifted to Nashik hospital and the other was admitted in Akole rural hospital.

Jaigude dead
Panchgani: Former president of Wai Municipal Council Rajaram S Jaigude died at a Pune nursing home this morning. He was 64 and is survived by wife and a daughter. Jaigude had been under medical observation after slipping into coma since he met with an accident near the Krishna bridge in Wai about three months back.

Consumer cell
Satara: The State Government has reorganised the consumer protection cells for the Satara district, a communique said. The new appointments are for the years 1999 and 2000. The Satara group is lead by Vivek Dhapre of Satara and it includes Arvind Mehta from Phaltan, Vijay Bhagwat, V P alias Annasaheb Naik (Satara) Pandurang Gaikwad (Taradgaon, Phaltan), Dr Sudhir Bodhe (Panchgani), Prabhakar Deshpande (Karad), Dr Vaishali Kulkarni (Man), Dr Veena B Pandit (Khandala), LPG dealers' representatives Arvind Pore (Wai) and Hemant Jaju (Satara), petrol dealers' representative Vinod Shah and traders' representatives Gopaldas, Chandrakant Modak and Balasaheb Majgaonkar (Satara).

Quarters
Ahmednagar: The State Government recently has cleared a Rs 80.61 lakh proposal to construct quarters for the judges and other judicial staff, an official communique said.

Uplokayuklta
Kolahpur: Upa-lokayukta N Jayraman will be visiting Kolhapur on February 16 to conduct the hearings into the pending issues from the district.

Citizens wish to file fresh complaints against the public servants covered under Maharashtra Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta Rules 1971 shall submit their complaints personally to the Upa-Lokayukta at the Circuit House between 11.30 am and 1 pm, an official press release said.
