The seriously injured girl, Reshma V Bhosale (13), is undergoing treatment at the Sassoon hospital. The hospital authorities said she is responding to treatment and is out of danger.

According to the police, Reshma had a boyfriend but she never let her parents know about it. Her father spotted her in a garden in Bopodi with her boyfriend on Thursday morning.

Reshma, who feared that her parents would scold her for going out with a boyfriend, rushed home and set herself afire. She was rescued and shifted to the hospital by her family with the help of some neighbours, the police added. The police have charged Reshma with attempting suicide.
