Road widening, With the State Government approving funds for the same. Additional Secretary of Urban Development Nandalal has cleared Rs. 7.5 crore for expanding roads in the city.

Anti-pollution drive, With students in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area being asked to play a major role in creating awareness about garbage disposal. They will work in groups in each locality and give lessons in segregating bio-degradable and non-bio-degradable waste in each household.

Pravin Nayak, With his 38 by 22 ft. lantern entering The Guinness Book Of World Records. The lantern, made of 2,000 sheets of thermocole, 25 kg. of nails and using 10 bulbs of 200 watts each, was recognised by Guinness... as the largest lantern in the world.

LPG Consumers, As the latest hike by the Central Government hit the city. With consumers having to dish out an additional Rs 16.20 per cylinder, the citizens are a disgruntled lot. Especially as it comes after an increase in vegetable prices and other essential commodities falling under the PDS.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Transport Employees, With the cash-strapped PCMC unable to pay their salaries on time. The salaries, which are usually paid by the first of the month, will be distributed over 15 days. For the 2,000 employees, this is bad news indeed.
