Nayakar to lead State team
Ravi Nayakar (BPCL) will lead Maharashtra in the Vth National Games hockey championships to be held at Imphal (Manipur) from February 14 to 25.

Team - Goalkeepers: Edgar Mascarenhas (Jr) (Air-India) and A P Girish (Tatas). Defenders: Romeo Albuquerque (Air-India), Cheops D'Costa (BPT), S Krishnamurthy (Tatas) and M K Prakash (BPCL). Halves: Abhijit Shirsat, Shayne D'Costa (both of BPT), Enrico Fernandes (Tatas), Errol D'Silva (Bombay Customs) and Sunil Pereira (Air-India). Forwards: Suresh Pereira (Bombay Customs), Ravi Nayakar (captain BPCL), B N Madan (Mahindras), Gavin Ferreira, Claes Ferreira and Manoj Lokhande (all three of Tatas). Manager: Kuldip Singh Sandhu (Bombay Customs). Coach: Clarence Lobo (Tatas).

12 state boxers for Natl Games
The Maharashtra Amateur Boxing Associationwill send 12 boxers to represent Maharashtra in the 5th National Games, to be held at Imphal:Bhushan Hedaoo (Lt Fly), Umakant Shinde (Fly) Keshav Mutgar (Bantam), Vijay Yadav (Feather), CP Chauhan (Light), Rajesh Yadav (Lt Middle), Lakhvinder Athwal (Welter), Rakesh Yadav (Lt Middle), Manoj Mishra (Middle), Rajesh Rajput (Lt Heavy), Ajit Parab (Heavy), Sanjay Jordar (Super Heavy).

The Maharashtra sub-junior team returned with a rich haul of three gold, two silver and two bronze from the Nationals held at West Bengal last month. While Mangesh Yadav, Amit Nagwekar and Brian Sanders bagged gold, Komal Yadav and Lalit Dengda (silver), Jaisingh Patil and Nabi Khan (bronze) were the other medal winners.

Inter-School tournaments
The MSSA-Colgate Annual Inter-School Handball Tournament for boys and girls in the age-group of u-16 and u-14 will be held at the School Sports Centre, Azad Maidan from Feb 22 to 25. Entries for the same should be submitted latest by Feb 12. The Mini-Basketball Tournament foru-13 boys and girls will be held at the same venue from Feb 19 to 27.

IIT to host State-level swim meet
IIT, Mumbai will host their 14th open state-level swimming gala on February 27 and 28. The date for acceptance of entries has been extended to Feb 8. For futher details contact Dr PM Reddy, swimming coach, on 5782545 (Ext 8967, 8968).
