Two women robbed of valuables
Two women were robbed of their mangalsutras and gold chains by miscreants in different parts of the city in broad daylight on Friday. According to the Makarpura police, Hemlata Mahendraprasad Champaklal Shah, a resident of A-1, Ashish Park Society on Tarsali Ring Road, was about to enter her house when she was stopped by two unidentified youths riding a motorcycle. The pillion rider not only pulled her mangalsutra and chain but also injured her shoulders in the process. The miscreants then escaped on their vehicle with the ornaments worth Rs 12,000. In another incident, a 59-year-old woman on her way to a temple on the Vidya Vikas Road was looted of her mangalsutra and gold chain worth Rs 13,500 by two youths travelling on a brown scooter, the Gorwa police said. In two incidents of house-break reported in two different areas of the city last night, goods worth Rs 9,500 were stolen. According to the police, unidentified persons broke the locks of the Prakash Sales Corporation in Hathikahan and escaped with goods and cash totalling at Rs 6,500. In another unrelated incident, Abdul Razzaque Mansoori of Kalaynanagar slums filed a complaint with the police stating that ornaments worth Rs 3,000 were stolen from his house on Saturday night. He suspected the involvement of Salim shaikh of Yaqutpura, Malek of Kalyan Nagar slums and Rahim Khan of Hathikhana in the theft. Police are investigating both cases.
Tyre stolen
One Rajubhai Nanakbhai Chaglani, a resident of 22, Vishwabharti Society on Waghodia Road, has complained to the police that the spare wheel and tyre of his Bajaj Chetak scooter parked in the compound of his house was stolen on Saturday night by some unknown persons. The Panigate police have registered a case and is investigating.
PASA arrest
One Praveen Manubhai Jaiswal, a resident of 158, Industrial Society on New Sama Road, who was arrested under PASA for his bootlegging activities, has been imprisoned in Junagarh district jail.
