ONGC GP-18 gets best party award

VADODARA, Feb 7: The Geophysical Field Party no 18 of ONGC was awarded the Best Party Award in the ONGC Western Region for their overall perfomance with regard to cost, quality, quantity, environment, safety and discipline during 1997-98.

The Seismic Survey work conducted by the Field parties reflected the total sub-surface Geological Information for further interpretation. Sub-surface data acquistion by seismic survey is the initial step for exploration of hydrocarbons.

During the field season 1997-98, GP-18 conducted 48 fold two-dimension common depth point seismic survey in the areas of South Padra (part II) using vibrators as energy source with the objective of mapping top of Deccan Trap and Olpad level and pinch-out limit of reservoir of hazard Dadhar formation. The party cleared 345 Ground Line kms (GLK) of high-resolution data in the area, achieving 135 per cent against the assigned target of 255 GLK.

On behalf of the GP-18, party chief Bachan Singh received the running shield from N Lal, Executive Director of the Western Region.

Golf tournament: The 10th ONGC Challenge Trophy Golf Tournament was held at the EME Golf Club Course recently. Nearly 120 golfers participated in the tournament, while 32 women took part in the women's putting event. Narendra Goyal of ONGC, Easteren Region, Nazira lifted the trophy with the best net individual score of 65, which was his personal best score. Taking the last nine with six pans, Goyal was declared the winner.

The other winner were A Daja (Best net runners-up) K K Jagati and Narendra Goyal (Best net team winners) Gurdyal Singh and A Daja (Net team runners-up) L Silvadurai (Best gross winners with 80) and Samarjit Singh Gaekwad (Gross runners-up) also tied at 80. But taking into account second half's play Silvadurai was declared the winner, Bunty Singh (Best Ladies gros winners with 83) and Cavantina patel (Ladies gross runner-up with 92). B C Bora CMD of the ONGC and Maj Gen M C Sebastian of EME gave away the awards to the winners of the concluding day of the tournament.

Annual inspection: The Annual Inspection of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), ONGC, Vadodara took place on january 29 and 30 by a team of principals and education officer headed by U N Singh Assistant Commissioner KV Sangathan, Ahmedabad Region. Singh and other members of the inspection team appreciated the morning assembly and the colourful and traditional welcome extended to them. The cultural programme organised up by the Vidyalaya was also appreciated.

In the academic inspection, the team was highly impressed by the teaching and activity-based learning of the primary section of the Vidyalaya.

Merit certificates were awarded to OVS Sikarvar, Principal KV, ONGC Vadodara; S K Lakhani, Principal KV, Harni Road, Vadodara and Mukul Srivastava, Principal KV, (Army) Dharangadra by Singh for their outstanding perfomance in various fields. Singh also gave away running shield sponsored by President, ONGC officers' Club, which was presented to Principal, KV, (ONGC) Vadodara for their best peromance index among all the KVs in Vadodara in the class 10 CBSE results in 1998, which was 70.89 per cent and pass percentage being 95.24 per cent.
