Tibetan boys rescued

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
BANGALORE, FEB 9: Police today rescued nine boys from Bihar while they were being taken to a Tibetan settlement in Karnataka, police said here.

Seven Tibetans who were allegedly responsible for bringing these children to work in farms and houses in the settlement, were taken into custody at the railway station here, police said.

The accused paid Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 for each child on condition that they would work in the Kollegal Tibetan settlement in Chamarajnagar district for three years, they said.

According to police, Tibetans have been involved in similar cases earlier, police said.

The children came to Karnataka by train from Patna, police said, adding arrangements were being made to send the boys back home.
