NEW DELHI, February 9: Five days after a maid-servant, her husband and two accomplices robbed an elderly couple in Malviya Nagar, they were brought back from Bihar and produced in a city court today.The maid-servant, Anita, is accused of assisting her husband, Mohan, and his two accomplices in robbing Rs 15,000 and some jewellery from the house of her employers S. Nand, 69, and Kamal Nand, 60, in Shivalik Colony .
At time of the incident, Kamal Nand was alone in the house. She told the police that after Anita finished cleaning the house, she saw her off at the door. When she returned she found three men inside. Kamal Nand was gagged and wrapped in ``an ice-cold sheet'' before being forced to hand over the keys to her cupboard. The robbers fled the spot after taking the money and the jewellery.
Neighbours informed the police that Anita and her husbhad left for Bihar. The police sent a team to Bihar. When the couple reached their village in Darbhanga district on Sunday, they found a group of Delhi policemen waiting for them. ``They tried to escape into the fields. When we finally caught them, they confessed to their involvement in the robbery,'' said an official.
