Representatives urged to redress grievances

VADODARA, Feb 9: State Panchayat Minister Dilip Patel has exhorted the elected representatives to reach remote places and listen to the grievances of the citizens.

He was speaking at an interaction programme here on Monday. Underlying various schemes launched by the State Government, the Minister said the MLAs and other representatives should have indepth knowledge of the schemes and should also know from which budget heads these would be implemented.

Stressing the need for effective co-ordination between the elected and the administrative wings, Patel informed that Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel had instructed to complete on-going public works in the villages by 2000 A.D. He assured that all hindrances would be removed if genuine problems were put up.

He further said that the State Government had decided to set up a separate body to have all details at one place for ongoing road works.

Among the issues discussed at the meeting included, representation to terminate contract of headstrong contractors, complete works from the recommendations of taluka panchayat members on time, impart training to women sarpanchs and put up file for dividing Savli taluka panchayat.

District Development Officer Anju Sharma, district panchayat president Kalyanbhai Patel, MLA Dilubha Chudasama, Deputy District Development Officer P V Nathani and other top officials of the District Panchayat remained present.
