VADODARA, Feb 9: Railway passengers will no longer have to wait in queues or search for complaint boxes to register their grievances or complaints. Complaints can now be sent through the E-mail to the railway authorities.Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, Divisional Railway Manager K C Jena said the reason behind the step was to reduce the time consumed in transit.
Jena said complaints received through the E-mail would be monitored by the railway headquarters as well as the railway board, which would enable quicker redressal.
On the achievements of the division during the past one month, Jena said the car parking area in front of the railway station had been widened for passengers' convenience.
``An additional ramp and railing has also been provided for the physically handicapped, as they faced problems in reaching the platform,'' Jena said.
He said they had received suggestions to improve them.
Jena said the division had stepped up checks in the past two months, resulting in the railways earning an amount of Rs 36,44,677 in terms of fine and penalty. A total 33,467 cases of irregular travelling were detected till the beginning of this month.
Jena said there was also an increase in the earnings of the division as compared to the previous financial year, primarily due to the passenger earnings, goods earnings and other coaching earnings.
